2019 Wings of the North Was a Trip into the Wild Blue Yonder

48 Scouts, parents and siblings participated in the Aviation Merit Badge course and AirExpo hosted by the Wings of the North Air Museum and the Northern Star Scouting STEM Committee during the weekend of July 13th and 14th at Flying Cloud Airport. Scouts spent their morning working toward their Aviaition Merit Badge by exploring the science behind flight, practicing with navigational charts, and learning about careers in aviation. The Wings of the North Museum even provided their own Cessna 150 to show Scouts the procedures for pre-flighting an aircraft prior to flight. In the afternoon, Scouts, parents, and siblings enjoyed the rest of their day at the AirExpo, watching vintage warbirds and modern aircarft take to the skies for aerial displays.

Special thanks to the Wings of the North Air Museum, as well as to Cary Pao, Matt Markham, and Pat McGuire for making this event possible, and inspiring the next generation of aspiring aviators!
